    Buyers Guide: Best Shoes for Peroneal Tendonitis 2020

    What is Peroneal Tendonitis?

    Peroneal tendonitis is the inflammation of the peroneal tendons, which are the strong thread-like structures that connect the calf muscles to your bones. This form of damage will make you experience pain and difficulty walking. You might also feel some ankle instability and popping. Other symptoms of peroneal tendonitis to look out for include:

    can i run with peroneal tendonitis

    That’s why choose the best shoes for ankle problems is vital.

    • Pain and swelling at the back of your ankle;
    • Pain when you attempt to turn the foot in or out;
    • Pain that gets worse during active time and reduces while you rest;
    • When the affected area is warm to the touch.

    What are the Causes of Peroneal Tendonitis?

    Tendonitis happens when you have microtears in the tendons, causing them damage and inflammation. These micro tears are as a result of overusing and straining these tendons, as is common with runners. Other causes of peroneal tendonitis apart from overusing the tendons on the lower foot include:

    • A sudden increase in training, where you use weight-bearing activities like jumping, running, and walking;
    • Failing to use the best long distance running shoes for optimal support;
    • Poor training techniques;
    • Failing to complete an ankle rehabilitation program after sustaining an ankle injury.

    This kind of discomfort comes on slowly and gradually worsens with activity.

    How to Choose the Best Shoes for Peroneal Tendonitis?

    Cushioning

    Plenty of cushioning will help you recover much faster, especially in the midsole section. Look for peroneal tendonitis shoes with Forefoot and Gel cushioning, especially around the heel and outside of the shoe. Just like the best running shoes for bad knees, peroneal tendonitis shoes must have plenty of cushioning.

    Weight and Flexibility

    Shoes for peroneal tendonitis must have a flexible sole to boost your range of motion. The shoe must be lightweight to reduce pressure on the foot.

    Arch and Ankle Support

    Peroneal tendonitis is common in individuals with a neutral and high arch, and you should look for a pair of shoes with neutral and high arch support, for example running shoes for flat feet. Shoes for peroneal tendonitis also have a secure heel counter and a collar that fits snugly for ample support for your ankle and to prevent the ankles from twisting too much.

    walking shoes for peroneal tendonitis

    All good shoes for peroneal tendonitis also come with a high heel-toe drop (8-12mm).

    To summarize, when looking for the best shoes for peroneal tendonitis, you need to consider:

    • Weight and flexibility;
    • Arch and ankle support;
    • Сushioning.

    Best Insoles For Peroneal Tendonitis

    Insoles for peroneal tendonitis is a sort of peroneal tendonitis orthotics. It should place pressure beneath the lateral (outside) border of the sole of the foot and reduce pressure beneath the big toe joint. In essence, raising the outside border from the ground a little, which reduces the strain in the peroneal tendons.

    Arch support insoles are inserts that are placed in the shoes to relieve pressure and reduce incorrect or inefficient movement of the foot during activity. This can frequently be helpful in relieving the pain and inflammation of peroneal tendonitis.

    Best Shoes for Peroneal Tendonitis FAQ:

    Is It Recommended to Run with Peroneal Tendonitis?

    Running with peroneal tendonitis is not recommended, but it is possible. Be careful and put on proper running shoes for peroneal tendonitis to avoid aggravating the peroneal tendons. To avoid further damage, run slower instead of fast, and stick to a slower pace until you are sure that your feet are back to optimum condition.

    Does the Shape of My Arch Determine the Shape of the Shoe I Should Use?

    Yes, it does. If you have peroneal tendonitis, you probably have a high arch, and thus require a pair of shoes that will accommodate your arch to keep your foot properly aligned.

    Should I Tie My Shoes Lightly While Running with Peroneal Tendonitis?

    Do not tie the laces tightly as you will increase pressure on your already injured foot. Use a proper lacing technique to give your ankles sufficient support without making the laces too tight.

    Verdict and Recommendation for 2020

    For men, gym-expert.com places the Adidas Ultraboost 20 as the best choice in 2020. It comes with a highly durable and flexible outsole, a rear-foot gel technology to cushion your foot, and an impact guide system design to enhance your natural gait as your foot leaves the ground and strikes back down. It is cost-effective, lightweight, and all-around great choice.

    what is peroneal tendonitis

    For women, the Brooks Women’s Adrenaline GTS 20 is the best choice. It is built with injection-molded EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) midsole for a comfortable and lightweight experience and Abzorb crash pad technology for absorbing weight on impact. It also comes with a lace-up mesh for ankle support and a durable rubber outsole.

    Peroneal tendonitis can be a painful condition, but you can overcome it quickly and get some exercise in as you recover if you have the right pair of shoes.

    Can i run with peroneal tendonitis?
    admin to Caren
    1 December, 2020
    Of course better avoid running for while. We heard the story of a 49-year-old runner who ran with chronic tendon pain for several months and eventually tore him up in the middle of a ten-mile race. This runner has recovered and returned to training. But only after surgery and a year of rehabilitation! As with any injury, you have to be patient and return to running gradually.

    Hi guys maybe your know how long peroneal tendonitis recovery time running and what is the best treatment
    admin to Linda
    1 December, 2020
    Hello Linda, good question) We don't know answer about that because actually it's very rare injury and recovery period depends on dozens factors. And as for your second question according to Daniel Heckman of the University of North Carolina, treatment should include rest (which is obvious), stretching and strengthening muscles, and proprioceptive exercises to restore proper tendon function.
